About Us

Two Flint-born brothers, Justin Bush and Jeron Dotson, are bringing The Poke Bowl, a Hawaiian and Japanese-inspired restaurant to the city’s University Corridor in Spring 2021. The idea for The Poke Bowl was born from a recent trip to Venice Beach, CA where they were introduced to the Hawaiian and Japanese rice bowls filled with raw fish and fresh vegetables. Jeron fell in love immediately and wanted to bring the concept back home and Justin had been cooking since 8 years old - it all lined up.  After winning a Flint SOUP competition, they started building a relationship with Kettering University and Habitat for Humanity. They were able to secure the left side a new work-live space and broke ground on their future restaurant in April 2019, and are expected to open in Spring 2021.
